Writers Night at the Carnegie

Join us for our Writers Night on August 29 at 6:30pm! Hear from authors Patricia L. Hamilton and Chris Bailey. Patricia L. Hamilton is the author of The Distance to Nightfall (Main Street Rag), Even Now (Kelsay Books), and the forthcoming chapbook Voiced (Kelsay). She won the 2015 and 2017 Rash Award in Poetry and has received three Pushcart Prize nominations, along with other recognitions. A retired Professor of English, she has published in numerous poetry journals in the U.S. and abroad. She and her husband have resided in Jackson since 2001.

Chris Bailey holds an MFA in Fiction as well as a Ph.D. in Composition. Originally from Toronto, Canada, Bailey now resides in Tennessee, where she teaches English at Union University. Her most recent short stories have appeared in Big Muddy, Flyway Journal of Writing and Environment, and Press Pause. She’s also published several book chapters and articles on creative writing as well as five young adult novels. Her latest YA novel, Burning Little Lies, is a Moonbeam Award-winning novel in YA (Artemesia, 2024). She is also the 2024 recipient of the Rick Bragg Prize for Nonfiction. Before teaching, Bailey worked as a journalist and as a marketing/PR writer.
