Jackson Arts Council Launches Urgent “Keep the Arts Alive” Campaign
Community support needed to sustain arts programs, resources and advocacy across West Tennessee
JACKSON, Tenn. — The Jackson Arts Council has launched an urgent Keep the Arts Alive Campaign to help stabilize the organization following the loss of anticipated funding from the City of Jackson.
The campaign will help the Jackson Arts Council continue providing services, resources and opportunities to artists, arts organizations, students and communities throughout its eight-county West Tennessee service area. The organization has already secured $3,000 toward its $25,000 goal, leaving $22,000 still to be raised during the campaign.
“For nearly 60 years, the Jackson Arts Council has worked to strengthen our community through arts and culture,” said Dr. Delita Johnson, executive director of the Jackson Arts Council. “This campaign is about more than filling a financial gap. It is about protecting the programs, partnerships and services that help artists and arts organizations thrive while ensuring that people throughout our region continue to have access to meaningful cultural experiences.”
Contributions to the campaign will help the Jackson Arts Council:
Provide resources and support to local artists and arts organizations;
Expand creative opportunities for children and families;
Support programs such as the Jackson Art Box;
Promote local artists, cultural events and community partnerships;
Advocate for a strong and thriving arts community; and
Maintain the organizational infrastructure needed to serve West Tennessee
The Jackson Arts Council is calling on individuals, businesses, foundations, former board members, artists and community partners to participate. Donations of every size will help the organization move closer to its goal.
“Public investment in the arts creates stronger communities, supports education, encourages economic activity and improves quality of life,” Johnson added. “We are asking everyone who believes in the importance of the arts to stand with us during this critical time.”
